Sound Tigers mascot energizes Winter Pep Rally
On December 12 Storm, the mascot for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers ice hockey team raised spirits at Lauralton Hall’s Winter Pep Rally. He tossed out tee shirts, judged the freeze dance contest and participated in several creative competitions. Hosted by Student Council, the Pep Rally was a fun way to recognize the hard work and dedication of Lauralton athletes who play winter sports.
Student Council officers Caroline McCauley, ’13; Kiernan Black, ’14; Jessica Vanam, ’15; and Isabella Giannini, ’14 were the key organizers and came up with ideas to make the pep rally inclusive and fun. The event kicked off with an awe-inspiring routine by the cheerleaders, followed by the Gymnastics Freeze Dance, the Ski Team Scooter Swish, the Indoor Track Crabwalk Race, a great performance from the LH Steppers and the Hockey Team Outfit Race where volunteers from the audience had to quickly don helmets, shin guards and gloves and then try to score a goal with a tennis ball. The Pep Rally closed with the Basketball Half-Court Throw and a rousing thank you to Storm.
Student Council President Caroline McCauley felt the event was a huge success. “The rally was a great display of unity and school spirit and showed how we are all here to support each other. It was also tons of fun!” Caroline reminded the Lauralton community that Saturday, April 6, 2013, will be Lauralton Hall Night at the Sound Tigers vs. Whalers game at Harbor Yard where the Lauralton Hall Ice Hockey team will take to the ice during half time.
