Athletic Director to be honored on November 24

Congratulations to Lauralton’s athletic director, Nicolle Camara, one of ten new inductees at the 13th annual West Haven High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The recipients will be honored Saturday, November 24, at 6:30 p.m., at the West Haven Italian-American Club, 85 Chase Lane, West Haven.

The 2012 inductees include Albert Belmont, Angelina Sousa, Art DeLucia, Gene Spaziani, John Cascio, Nicolle Camara, Rich Turner and Warren Howe, along with the 1967 baseball team and the 1972 football team.

Nicolle Camara is a 1991 West Haven High School graduate who played soccer, basketball and softball. She was so dominant she played the most important positions in each sport—goalkeeper in soccer, point guard in basketball and shortstop in softball.

Recruited by several Division II and Division III schools for basketball and softball, Camara attended Albertus Magnus College from 1991-1993, playing point guard on the basketball team and catcher on the softball team. She was named Rookie Athlete of the Year in her freshman year.

With the University of New Haven still recruiting Camara, she transferred in September of 1993. She played soccer during her time at UNH.

Ms. Camara currently oversees the athletic department at Lauralton, serving as Athletic Director and Director of Sports and Enrichment for Kids, our summer program.

Please join the entire Lauralton community as we congratulate Nicolle Camara on this honor. Show your Lauralton spirit by making plans to attend the induction ceremony in her honor!
