Lauralton celebrates Mercy Day

On September 24, Lauralton Hall joined with Sisters of Mercy schools around the world to celebrate the founding of the first House of Mercy in 1831. Mercy Day, the first community day of the school year, began with a Liturgy celebrated by Rev. Jim Bowler, S.J. , Director of the Center for Ignatian Spirituality at Fairfield University, and was followed by a picnic lunch. In attendance were students, faculty, staff and Board members. We were also blessed to have Mercy Sisters Sr. Mary Etta Higgins, Sr. Genie Guterch and Sr. Maryann Malasics joining us for the celebration.

The Sisters of Mercy are an international community of Roman Catholic women who have vowed to serve people who suffer from poverty, sickness and lack of education with a special concern for women and children.
