Megan Collins signs National Letter of Intent

Lauralton Hall is pleased to announce that one of our star athletes, Megan Collins ’14 of Trumbull, signed her National Letter of Intent to swim for Providence College. The signing was held at Lauralton Hall in the Office of the President on November 14, 2013.

Megan was joined by her family, her Lauralton swim coach, her club coach, the Lauralton Hall Athletic Director and a cheering squad of fellow students, teammates, and faculty. Megan’s parents, Tom and Sonia Collins, were overjoyed as they watched their daughter sign her letter.  “Megan has been an incredible athlete since age seven; she is dedicated to this sport because she loves it. I’m so proud of her and Providence is lucky to have her,” stated Sonia.

Megan has experienced the triumphs of both high school and year round swimming. “Swimming on a high school team sport is a different atmosphere. You learn the value of sticking together. Lauralton has taught me the team aspect of the sport and I will take this with me throughout my life.”

Megan has been a four year member of the Lauralton swim team under the direction of Head Swim Coach Fran Pfeiffer.“Megan exhibited leadership qualities from the first day. She was always first in the pool and a leader in her lane during practice. This no nonsense approach was rewarded in winning All State honor all four years as well being one of the team’s top swimmers in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breast Stroke. She has been a consistent point scorer during the dual meet season. Megan's enthusiasm, dedication, and loyalty to Lauralton Swimming will be hard to replace as she moves on to swim at Providence College,” stated Coach Pfeiffer.

Megan will be majoring in Political Science with a minor in International Relations.
