SADD members take part in Sticker Shock

In early December fourteen members of Lauralton’s chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) took part in the club’s annual Sticker Shock event. Sticker Shock is a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) project in which young people raise public awareness about the minimum drinking age law by placing stickers on multi-packs of beer, wine coolers and any other alcohol products that might appeal to underage drinkers. The goal of the project is to discourage adults and older peers (those who are 21 or over) from providing alcohol to minors.

Lauralton Hall’s SADD members traveled to cooperating local package stores to follow through on this mission. The SADD officers presented letters to area package stores asking if they would like to participate in this event. Under supervision of the SADD co-moderators, the girls spent their afternoon placing the stickers on numerous alcoholic beverages.

“This is a passionate event each year for our SADD members, and it also reinforces their commitment to live healthy lives as members of Students Against Destructive Decisions,” states faculty member and club co-moderator Peggy McGowan.
