Semi-formal Dance draws big crowd

The annual Student Council-sponsored Semi-formal Dance for freshmen and sophomorres, held on March 15 in the Claven Auditorium, was a huge success with 250 students in attendance!

The room was beautifully decorated using the dance theme, "Candy Land," and many of the decorations were created by Student Council students led by Student Council President Caroline McCauley, along with students from the Art Club.

Chaperones formed a receiving line to greet the students and their dates as they entered, adding an air of formality to the evening.

The festivities included a fun “best dressed” contest. Student Council officers nominated a few students who were escorted to the stage so the audience could a good view in order to applaud for their favorite "best dessed." A prize was given to the young lady and young man with the most applause. Other than stopping for a few moments for the contest, the students danced all night and didn’t stop until the music ended and the lights were turned up at the end.

“It was a truly wonderful evening and the ‘Candy Land’ theme definitely added to the fun. The girls’ excitement was growing all week as they watched the decorations going up. There was an incredible turnout and the girls had big smiles on their faces all evening. They love an opportunity to get dressed up for an evening out. The music and dancing were the icing on the cupcake!” said Student Council Moderator Lauren Korman.
